Sword Art Online
WATCHED 25.06.2017 - 14.08.2017 AVERAGE RATING: 8.3
SEASON 1: In 2022, a game was released called Sword Art Online. This game uses the new and very popular VRMMORPG nerve gear (also known as Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). This nerve gear allows the user to completely become one with the game as if they are in it, and the gear in other words takes control over them. Kazuto Kirigaya, better known as Kirito, is one of the 1000 beta testers in this game, and on the release day, 10.000 players joined and explored the game for a little while until suddenly they are all transported to the lobby and their avatars change into how they look in real life. All confused, they start to panic. But then they meet the creator of the game who makes them realise that they can't log out of the game. They will all be stuck in this virtual world until someone beats the boss on the 100th floor, and if you die in game, you will die in real life too as the nerve gear will fry your brain. So, everyone is forced and goes on with this in order to get out of the game. They form friendships with other players, form guilds, fight, survive and level up. Some decide to go all out and train to get to floor 100, and others stay on different floors and wait for someone to defeat the boss. Sword Art Online is located in a map resembling a floating castle called Aincrad, which has 100 floors, each are completely different from the rest. In order to move to the next floor, the boss of the floor the players are on has to be defeated through hard work, teamwork and training. Since Kirito is a beta tester, he had a 'higher advantage' than other players in terms of experience and equipment, so many people turned against him. Nevertheless, Kirito tries his best and fights on. He meets people like Klein (who he befriended at the beginning), Asuna (his love interest), Agil (shopkeeper, great and well known battler, friend of Kirito) and others. Asuna is one of the commanders of the guild The Knights Of The Blood Oath and works together with Kirito but doesn't get close to him or anything at first, whilst Kirito tries his best to communicate with her. She has really good sword skills in the game. We meet Silica, who falls in love with Kirito. She's not the most powerful but she's good with beasts and is a good hearted person. She was the first person to tame a small dragon and therefore a lot of players want her in their guild/group. But they treat her as a mascot.. We also meet Lisbeth who is Asuna's best friend, a blacksmith and also someone who likes Kirito. Kirito and his friends keep fighting and trying to beat the game. Eventually, Asuna and Kirito become really close after Kirito defeated the boss of The Knights Of The Blood oath who they found out to be one of the bad guys who kill players. Asuna and Kirito decide to buy a house on a floor with a beautiful forest. They meet Yui here, a lone NPC. They take her in as their child. Together with Yui, they battle more and try to find out more about the game and the people behind it. Finally, at the end of the season they battle the boss at floor 100 and defeat him. The game has been won after two years. All the left over players were free, though many died. Kirito and Asuna get transported to someone on the side of the game and watch Aincrad and their house fall away into nothing but codes. They meet the creator of the game and after he disappears, Kirito and Asuna kissed each other goodbye and vowed to meet each other in the real world. Finally, they had awoken from this hell. All the people looked very pale and skinny and their hair had grown out. Kirito immediately tries to get to Asuna even in this state. They meet each other and go to a school/college for SAO gamers since they are two years behind in studying.
SEASON 2: A year after Kirito clears Sword Art Online and escapes from it back to his regular and real world life, We find Kirito playing a game called Alfheim Online which is a game where you can transport your SAO data to, Yui was also still there. In Alfheim Online you can be a different avatar species. Like an Elf of Cat. Kirito chooses to be an Elf. It takes him some time but with the help of others, he learns to use his wings. He meets Leafa and other characters. Asuna gets captured in this game so Kirito tries to go save her, with the help of the people he meets, including Silica, and Leafa. They manage to save her, after a long journey of meeting people, battling monsters and players, and travel. Kirito and Leafa finally realise that they are each others' siblings in real life! This shocked them both as they never expected such a coincidence, and Leafa fell in love with Kirito before knowing that. Kirito after enters another MMORPG game called 'Gun Gale Online' which is a pvp shooting game. He enters the game for the first time and is spawned with a very rare avatar that looks like a girl. Kirito was asked to play this game by Kikouka for investigation work on a user nicknamed 'Death Gun' who would kill players in game and at the same time in real life, which shouldn't be possible. Kirito meets Sinon - one of the best players in the game, as he tries to find his way around the game, and she teaches Kirito the basics to GGO, and helps him to equipment. Kirito chose to buy a weak light saber sword thing instead of a gun, which Sinon questioned. They both join the GGO Tournaments: Bullets of Bullets, where Kirito shows off his OP sword skills which he still knew thanks to SAO, leaving everyone including Sinon speechless as they were sure he wouldn't stand a chance with a sword. Not only that, Kirito is a newbie. Later, Kirito finds out that the mysterious deaths are linked to a Reg guild named 'Laughing Coffin'. (When a player or group /guild is red, it means that that person/those people have once or more often murdered a player or performed a similar act. These players should be stayed away from.). In the end, we find out that Death Gun's real name is Zaza/XaXa. He used to be an SAO player with the name Sterben. During a match where one of the players was Death Gun, Sinon and Kirito worked together to kill him, and he also dies in real life somehow. This guy was also Spiegel's brother. Knowing this, Kirito, Sinon and others confronted Spiegel, causing him to show his true nature. He's also a member of Laughing Coffin. Spiegel was once Sinon's friend, both in-game and in real life. So, after being find out, he travels to Sinon's house. Kirito tries to go there too but he lives very far away unlike Spiegel. In the meantime, Sinon is trying her best to protect herself from him, but he gets into her apartment and almost kills her in the same way Death Gun does, which is injecting people with some substance. Kirito comes running inside and pushes Spiegel off of Sinon just before he manages to inject her with the substance. Spiegel wanted to kill Sinon to avenge his brother, and as revenge for Kirito and Sinon killing him. The rest is just Kirito being together with his SAO friends and Asuna, as well as new member Sinon and Yuuki is also there, They play Alfheim Online and other things together. Later, Yuuki dies due to her health conditions in the real world. She says farewell with everyone around her. This was sadly fated to happen.
MOVIE 1:Ordinal Scale: Asuna, Yui and her friends convince Kirito to try out a new game with them; Ordinal Scale - a game played with a new headset allowing you to play as if it were VR but in the real world. You fight monsters at spawn points with lots of other players. And everyone has this headgear. This game was more realistic yet alike SAO and GGO, as you could run out of stamina since you're using your real body instead of a virtual one. Rising star Yuuna is one of the reasons to this game's existence but also to all these players. This game started out happily, but started getting out of hand and way too realistic. The monsters and bosses started taking over the real world instead of the virtual one, and that meant you could easily get injured by them. It just became 100% real. The creator of Ordinal Scale uses these monsters to power Yuuna - his daughter who got killed in Sword Art Online. He tries to revive her through this method, or make this version of her real. When the power bar reaches 100 she would become just that. Kirito and the others head to him as they battle the monsters, dodge them and try their best to not get hurt in any way, and tell him that why he's doing is wrong. Yuuna also tells her dad that he shouldn't do this, and this convinced him to shut down the game together with the effects it has at that moment. Yuuna tries to help her dad and let's him move on, as she disappears into the heavens. The world returns to normal and so the movie ends. The characters got a lot of help from Yui, too, by the way.
