Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo // The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Makoto is a high school student who keeps having bad luck. After being punished and having to carry some books upstairs at school, she hears a strange noise coming from one of the classrooms she passes. She decides to investigate and finds a lab. Whilst inside, she saw something falling and so decides to take a look at it. It almost looks like a regular walnut! Makoto then gets startled by something and falls on top of it, to which time stops, and she experiences time and space itself. After this strange event, she goes to her friends Chiaki and Kousuke and tells them what just happened. But they don't believe her. After hanging out with them for too long, she's in a rush to buy peaches which she promised her mom she'd do at a certain time. So she speeds down a hill on her bike. At the feet of the hill, a train was approaching, so Makoto wanted to stop. But the brakes didn't work! Makoto starts freaking out and keeps trying to stop, but nothing worked against how she was speeding, so she did end up hitting the bar at the train rails and flies onto the tracks and gets hit by the train that raced by. This became her first Time Leap. She returns back to her bike, speeding down the mountain. Without a second thought she jumped off the bike, injuring herself pretty badly. But that's way better than being fated to die there. Makoto goes to see her aunt after this and tells her she traveled back in time and got a second chance to stop herself from being hit by the train. And her aunt believes her, and she even calls what Makoto did a 'Time Leap'. Makoto tries to figure out why she can leap. One day she tries to leap again by running at and jumping into a river, and she manages. Since she now knew how it worked, she used it for her own benefits and manages to avoid the bad luck she'd been getting before. Kousuke gets confessed to by someone but her turned her down because he has someone else he likes (but he didn't tell her that directly). Makoto gets a bike ride from Chiaki where he confesses to her, panicking, Makoto Time Leaps again and tries to prevent this from happening again. But she keeps getting confessed to by Chiaki. So she decides to go home alone instead so that he can't confess to her like that again. Makoto tries her best to keep avoiding Chiaki, and finds out her friend really likes him. One day, a boy who was getting bullied goes back up against his bullies and got so mad that he threw a fire extinguisher right at Makoto. Chiaki jumps in front of her to protect her. So it hit him instead and he was serve rely injured. Therefore, Makoto time leaps again, but this time it's her friend who got hit instead. This brought Chiaki and Makoto's friend closer to each other and they started dating. Makoto finds out that she has a tattoo/mark thing on her arm indicating how many leaps she's got left. She goes to see her aunt again. Makoto gets annoyed so she time leaps back one day, and tries to get Kousuke and the girl who confessed to him before together. Now, Makoto only has one leap left. Kousuke and his girlfriend take Makoto's broken bike. But Makoto knows exactly what will happen, so she tries to chase them down. In the meantime, she receives a call from Chiaki who asks her if she's Time Leaping. And so, Makoto uses her last leap to before he asked the question, which wasn't the best choice, as she then sees Kousuke biking past on Makoto's broken bike with his girlfriend sitting behind him, down that very hill Makoto sped down before she did her first Time Leap. She helplessly watches them as they bike past waving at her happily. Makoto makes a final attempt to stop them, and luckily they get stopped by Chiaki who came from the future. And he also used his last Time Leap to save Kousuke, therefore he is forced back to the future. Time stops. Makoto realises she's in love with Chiaki after all and somehow receives one Time Leap. She uses it to go back to day one, before messing with the walnut thing, which is a device to this time leap thing. Makoto takes the device to Chiaki and explains to him everything she knows and went through. Makoto promises to protect this painting which would be destroyed in the future for Chiaki. Chiaki with his last Time Leap, gets close to Makoto and tells her: "I'll be waiting for you in the future". And he leaves back to the future. Makoto heads back to school and tells Kousuke Chiaki went to study abroad instead of saying the truth. Makoto lives her normal life at school, and protects the painting, looking forward to meeting Chiaki who will be waiting for her.
